Aerial and drone FAQs

  • Those are our strongest home bases, but our aerial team flies nationwide. We regularly work across the Southeast, Texas, the Midwest, and the West Coast, with projects also scheduled in Arizona and other states. Travel and logistics are simply built into the proposal.

  • Yes. We can prioritize video, stills, or a mix depending on your needs. For many clients we capture establishing shots, tracking shots, and detailed overheads on video, then grab high resolution stills while we are on site for use in decks, web, and print.

  • Absolutely. Some teams bring us in only for drone coverage to complement their in house or agency production. Others hire Filmit.xyz for full service production where aerial is one part of a larger film. We are comfortable working in either role.

  • Costs depend on location, airspace complexity, and the overall production. Smaller local shoots start with a lean aerial unit and can be very efficient. Larger campaigns with multiple locations, travel days, permits, and long flight windows are scoped as part of a broader production budget. On your discovery call we will talk through your goals, locations, and constraints, then build a clear estimate around that.

Most productions use a two drone package that covers nearly everything we need in the air.

  • DJI Inspire 3 for high end aerial cinematography, flexible lens options, and precise control on commercial and narrative shoots.

  • DJI Mavic series for compact, fast deployments where we still want clean, detailed footage and stills in tight locations or quick turn situations.

This mix lets us scale from lean single operator shoots to multi person aerial units on larger sets. Because the aerial team is integrated with our camera department, the footage matches seamlessly with ground based RED V Raptor VV and ARRI Alexa 35 material.

Licensed, insured, and production ready

Aerial work has to be safe, legal, and predictable. Our drone operations follow FAA regulations, local airspace rules, and site specific requirements so you are not guessing about compliance on the day of the shoot.

For each project we:

  • Review airspace and nearby airports or heliports

  • Obtain permissions and coordinate with property owners or site managers

  • Plan safe flight paths and altitudes

  • Carry appropriate insurance for aerial operations

On set, the aerial team coordinates directly with the director and camera department so shots are safe, efficient, and aligned with the overall story.

Why aerial footage matters for your project

You've seen the amazing photos on television and all over social media, but you are still not convinced about whether drone photography is a good fit for your business, or even what drone photography means. Let me explain why this form of photography is already taking off.

From a pro photographer and licensed drone flyer's perspective, I think it's the size and perspective that really draws me to them. You see, in a regular photograph (even one with a wide-angle lens) the subject (such as a mountain or tree) is small and distant from you, but with a drone photograph, you get a totally different perspective.

As more and more drone pilots begin to take to the skies, we can expect to see even more incredible shots from these brave photographers. Plus, the topography of some areas make for some spectacular views. From mountain peaks to ocean waves and waterfalls, these are just a few examples of the type of photos that can be captured by drone photography. Who needs expensive high-altitude aircraft when you have drones?
