General video production questions

  • Filmit.xyz is a filmmaking and video production company based in South Carolina and New York City with a nationwide footprint. We produce brand films, commercials, documentary style pieces, corporate and industrial video, social content, podcasts, and aerial work for businesses and agencies.

  • Our crew is anchored in South Carolina and New York City, but we work nationwide. We are on projects across the Southeast, Texas, Arizona, the Midwest, and the West Coast, often combining our core team with trusted local crew in each city.

  • We create a wide range of content for brands and organizations. That includes hero brand films, product and service commercials, B2B explainer videos, corporate overview films, internal communication pieces, training videos, event recaps, testimonial videos, aerial videos, and ongoing social media content packages.

  • We partner with local and national businesses, corporate marketing teams, PR firms, digital agencies, media buying agencies, and in house content teams. We also collaborate directly with directors, distributors, and indie filmmakers who need a production partner or camera and crew support on narrative and documentary projects.

If you want to see examples of how we plug into different teams, start with our Home page overview and the Video Production page, which outlines the types of projects we deliver for these partners.

  • No. We work with a mix of established brands, growth stage companies, agencies, and smaller teams that want to punch above their weight with video. The important part is that there is a clear goal and a realistic budget so we can build a production plan that makes sense.

Locations and travel

  • Yes. South Carolina and New York City are our home bases, not our limits. We regularly shoot in other states, with a lot of recent work in Texas and several projects coming up in Arizona, plus travel to other markets when the project calls for it. Travel and logistics are just part of the proposal.

  • Over the years we have built a network of crew and vendors in cities across the country. For most out of town productions we send a core Filmit team, then plug in trusted local camera, G and E, sound, and production resources that we know by name. This keeps quality high and travel costs efficient.

  • Yes. Most of our work happens on client locations. We are used to filming in offices, warehouses, manufacturing plants, farms, hospitals, schools, restaurants, retail spaces, and live event venues. During pre production we will review the space and any safety or access considerations before we roll in with gear.

 Services and capabilities

  • Full service means we handle concept development, scripting or interview outlines, pre production, locations, casting, crew, gear, filming, editing, color grading, sound design, motion graphics, and delivery in the formats you need. You get a single team handling the entire video production process from idea to final file.

  • Yes. Some clients already have a creative director, agency, or internal team and need a seasoned crew to execute. We regularly work as the camera department, lighting team, or aerial unit on productions led by other creative partners, and we are comfortable plugging into existing workflows.

  • We offer licensed aerial video and drone photography through our dedicated aerial team. We fly DJI Inspire and Mavic platforms for commercial, real estate, industrial, tourism, documentary, and narrative projects, and we integrate aerial footage directly into the main edit so it matches the look of the overall film.

  • Yes. Filmit.xyz offers on site podcast production where we bring a mobile studio to your office or location. We provide microphones, headphones, recording gear, and optional cameras and lighting for video podcasts. We can also host and distribute your show to major platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts and create social clips from each session.

  • Almost every project includes social media deliverables. We can deliver vertical content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, square or horizontal cutdowns for LinkedIn and Facebook, and export presets matched to your platforms or paid media specifications.

  • We can support your YouTube strategy by planning thumbnail concepts, titles, descriptions, and tags for each video and by advising on channel structure and content cadence. For some clients we manage an ongoing content pipeline that feeds both their website and YouTube channel.

  • Yes. If you already have footage, we can handle editing, color grading, sound design, motion graphics, and versioning. This is common for brands and agencies who have in house crews, internal teams that have recorded content, or international partners who need a US based post house.

Process and workflow

  • Our process has a few clear phases. We start with discovery to understand your goals, audience, and budget. In pre production we lock the concept, script or outline, schedule, crew, and logistics. Production is where we film on location or in studio with a tight, senior team. Post production covers edit, sound, color, graphics, and revisions. Finally we deliver all master files and social versions. You can dig into each step in more detail on our Process page.

  • Timelines depend on scope. A small corporate piece or focused brand film can move from discovery to final delivery in a few weeks. Larger campaigns, documentaries, and narrative projects often run over multiple months with built in rounds for creative, pre production, and stakeholder review. We outline the exact schedule in your proposal.

  • You decide how hands on you want to be. Some clients prefer to be involved at every step from concept through edit. Others rely on us to handle the details and check in only at key approval milestones. Either way you will have a clear point of contact and a defined review plan.

  • Most projects include two to three rounds of revisions after the initial rough cut. The exact number depends on the scope and is spelled out in your agreement. We aim to gather clear feedback at each stage so that changes are efficient and the project keeps moving forward.

  • We use an online review platform where you can watch the video in a browser and leave frame accurate comments. This makes it easy for multiple stakeholders to give feedback without long email chains. For larger projects we can also schedule live review calls.

Budgets, pricing, and payments

  • We keep budgets agile and realistic. Some projects are focused pieces in the 10k range, such as a single brand film or a set of social deliverables. At the other end we have worked on major motion picture and documentary projects with total budgets of 1 million and above. During discovery we talk through goals and constraints and then design a production plan that fits the scale of the project.

  • Pricing is based on factors like creative scope, production days, crew size, locations, gear, travel, and post production requirements. We break budgets into line items and group them by phase so you can see exactly where the investment is going. For ongoing work we can also structure retainers or bundled content packages.

  • In most cases yes. If you come to us with a defined budget window, we will recommend the most effective way to use it. That can mean adjusting shoot days, locations, crew size, or deliverables to keep quality high while respecting the numbers.

  • Payment terms depend on project size. A typical structure for larger productions is a deposit to lock in dates, a milestone at the start of production, another during post production, and a final balance on delivery. Smaller projects may use a simpler split. All terms are outlined in the proposal before we begin.

  • Travel, lodging, and related expenses are either built into the production budget or listed as a separate line item, depending on the project. We keep travel costs transparent and share estimates up front, especially for multi day out of state shoots.

Creative, gear, and technical questions

  • Our primary digital cinema cameras are the RED V Raptor VV and ARRI Alexa 35, supported by other RED and camera systems when needed. For high speed work we use the Freefly Ember. These are the same level of tools used on major film and commercial sets and they integrate well into our color and post pipeline.

  • We use a mix of anamorphic and spherical lenses depending on the project. Anamorphic options are ideal for a more cinematic, widescreen look, while our spherical full frame sets are great for commercial, food, and architectural work. On the Filmmaking page you can see more detail about how we choose lenses and what each look brings to a project.

  • We typically master in 4K and can deliver in 1080, 4K, or higher if needed. Aspect ratios depend on the project and platforms. Common choices include 16 to 9 for web and broadcast, 9 to 16 for vertical socials, 1 to 1 squares, and 2.39 to 1 for cinematic widescreen. Many projects include multiple ratios from the same shoot.

  • We take sound seriously. On narrative and doc style shoots we have a dedicated production sound mixer capturing clean dialogue and ambience with professional mics. In post we add sound design, licensed music, and mix the project so it plays well on laptops, phones, TVs, and in live event environments.

  • Yes. We frequently add motion graphics, animated titles, lower thirds, end cards, and simple explainer animations as part of our video production services. For more complex animation heavy projects we either handle it in house or partner with trusted animation specialists.

Rights, deliverables, and usage

  • Ownership terms can vary but in most cases clients receive usage rights for the final videos as outlined in the agreement, often with broad rights for web, social, and internal use. If you require full ownership of raw footage, we can include that as part of the scope and budget. We are upfront about rights from the start so there are no surprises.

  • By default most clients receive final edited deliverables, not raw footage. If you need access to raw files for internal use, archive, or future edits, we can include that in the proposal and plan for transfer drives or cloud delivery. Raw delivery sometimes carries an additional fee due to size, transfer time, and long term storage considerations.

  • We keep project files and raw media for a defined period, often one year from final delivery, with options to extend storage for a fee if you want long term archiving. If you prefer to handle storage yourself, we can transfer everything at the end of the project.

Strategy and results

  • Yes. Many clients come to us with a general goal like improving brand awareness, explaining a complex product, or supporting a sales effort, not with a finished concept. On our first calls we work through audience, message, and channels, then suggest formats that make sense, such as a brand film plus social cutdowns, a doc style founder story, or an ongoing content series.

  • Success depends on the goal. For some pieces it is engagement and watch time, for others it is signups, demo requests, or internal adoption. We work with your team to define what success means before we shoot so that the creative and deliverables align with the metrics you care about.

  • We use AI where it supports speed and quality, not as a replacement for creative or crew. That can include AI assisted research and ideation, transcripts, selects, rough assemblies, captioning, and content repurposing. All creative decisions, direction, cinematography, and final approvals are still handled by our human team.

Getting started

  • It helps to know your main goal, target audience, ideal timeline, approximate budget range, and any key locations or stakeholders. If you do not have all of that figured out yet, that is fine. Share what you know and we will help you shape the rest.

  • The easiest way to start is to fill out the form on our Contact page and tell us about your project, location, and timeline. From there we schedule a call, talk through ideas and constraints, and then come back with a clear proposal and production plan.
